I finally got around to playing Kirby’s Epic Yarn for the Wii. Wow. This game is cute, cuddly, warm & fuzzy, and any other similar adjective you can think of. Some people will find it disgustingly so, but don’t let that deter you. Some other descriptors that go with it are solid, engaging, and fun.
The meat of the story is fairly standard. All you really need to know is that everybody’s favorite pink and puffy character is dragged into a world where everything is made of cloth, string, and yarn (including himself). This is where all the gameplay mechanics come from. You manipulate the environment and defeat enemies by using the yarn that now makes up Kirby.
There is very little challenge to be had here, but that’s not a bad thing. This is a game you should play just for the fun of it. It’s so bright and cheerful that it can even cheer you up if you’re having a bad day. I recommend this to gamers of all ages and skill levels.
